Hah! here is the real reason for Israel's current overkill. No one in their right mind believes the two soldier story. The US has had many soldiers attacked or taken and we have never devastated a country over it. If it was Hazballah, why not work with Lebanon "covertly" -a very familiar operating mode for most countries, including Isreal. According to popular media, Lebanon wanted Hezballah out (or at least weakened and disarmed). The US works with Colombia to control militants there, for example. No...even without Lebanon's agreement, we have equiped Isreal very well for them claim that they were unable to have taken the Hezballah leadership out. This freakout is something else... What is killingt me is how inept our media is and how easy it is to manipulate. No indepedant thinkers, no disenting view, no one questions anything. It's frightening! We were all flipping over the Katrina hurricane (a natural disaster). While any loss is sad, the fact is that the property lost in the hurricane was old, wooden slums and the folks that were displaced were the usual irresponsible few. yet all of america was outraged and practically wanted to aust the President. Here, there is entire new cities being distroyed, probably along with other buildings of historic value, and we are Ok with that. Never mind the thousands of displaced folks without FEMA credit cards and handouts! This is an outrage, but what is most outrageous for me (basically more interested in how the US will survive) is the silence lack of balanced or even coherent reporting! Our unevolved fixation with Isreal can only be described as "wierd". We should be loyal to our friends, but not to our own detriment and certainly not to the exclusion of all our other friends. What's up with that?
